By looking at a set of 23 Chromosomes how can you tell what sex it is?

I know that male is XY and Female is XX but it is not clear to me how I can figure it out the sex from looking at the chromosomes. I know that it is usually in the 23rd set.

The Y chromosome is much smaller than the X chromosome.
